Yet Wah Restaurant Review

Andrea and I chose Yet Wah Restaurant in San Francisco (at the recommendation of our friend, Ray) to be the restaurant where our parents will formally meet.

Yet Wah is located in Diamond Heights in San Francisco. Their address is: 5238 Diamond Heights Blvd., San Francisco, CA. They are open daily from 10am to 10:30pm. They can be contacted via telephone at 415.282.0788.

We basically ordered family style for a total of seven people: Andrea, me, Linda, my mom and dad, and Andrea’s mom and dad.

So the ambiance of the place is quite nice. It is located on the second story with nice big glass windows looking out towards the Bay Bridge. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. The place is not tiny, but not quite big. They probably have a total capacity of about 15-20 tables maximum. The place is relatively quiet and not brightly lit. They have a wet bar.

The plates that I ordered were:

  • Hot and Sour soup
  • Mongolian Beef
  • General Chicken in Garlic Sauce (Hot & Spicy)
  • Glazed Walnut Prawns
  • Prawns w/Vegetables
  • Steamed Asparagus
  • combination chow mein
  • combination fried rice
  • Braised Tofu w/scalops

All the food was quite good. The braised tofu with scallops was a bit plain and not quite worth it. The glazed walnut prawns were actually quite good. Andrea’s dad, Mark, very much enjoyed that dish having never had it before. The General Chicken in garlic sauce was a bit too sweet. The hot and sour soup was good also.

It didn’t take very long for the food to start coming out after we had ordered. The tea is made with tea bags, to my chagrin. Everyone had plenty to eat and we had a bit of left overs. The portion sizes was adequate for our party of seven. The total bill came to a smudge over $100, which is actually quite good considering how much we ordered. Mark left a nice tip. We definitely recommend this restaurant. It has pretty good parking, easy to find, and good ambiance.

Four out of five stars.
